Rotary Kilns

Efficiency and reliability for your Carbon Reactivation needs

What is Rotary Kilns?

NUTEC Bickley's Rotary Kilns for carbon reactivation offer a very efficient way to clean activated carbon so that it can be reused. The kiln is based on the successful GFC design already used throughout the gold mining industry and are furnished with a complete control system which will permit kiln operators to regulate all of the kiln parameters, such as carbon feed rate, process temperatures, steam flows, kiln pressure etc.

Better carbon regeneration in these Nutec Bickley kilns results in both improved gold recovery and higher recovery process rates.

These kilns can be monitored remotely and Industry 4.0 trend monitoring can be incorporated.

Advantages of carbon regeneration kilns

Versatility: The carbon is indirectly heated inside a 253 MA alloy drum that has a variable rotary kiln speed for different carbon feed rates and residence times.

Energy Efficiency: These kilns can be equipped with either a carbon preheater or a heat recovery system to ensure the lowest possible energy usage.

Temperature Regulation: In our carbon regeneration kilns we have the ability to run at higher temperatures so that organic contamination is removed more efficiently. Regenerated carbon is very close to virgin carbon activation levels after treatment.

Increased Capability: We use deep heat transfer blades within the drum to more effectively transfer heat into the carbon. This provides higher carbon bed depths for increased capacities.

Reliability: Steam is injected through the drum at the kiln exit end to aid with the carbon reactivation process and to avoid any oxygen infiltration.

Built to Last: Both the entry and the exit of the drum are supplied with a spring-loaded rotary seal with a graphite impregnated seal medium and with an improved labyrinth system to stop the superelastic carbon from bouncing into the seal face and causing grinding and premature failure of the seal.

Atmospheric Control: Our carefully controlled pressure steam atmosphere ensures that treatment takes place without burning or damaging the carbon.

Highly Specialized: Carbon regeneration kilns are solely used in the gold mining industries.

Why choose Nutec Bickley when buying a rotary kiln?

Nutec Bickley heat transfer blades gently transfer heat to the carbon and move it through it through the heating tube. This is a gentle process that does not damage the carbon.
Our kiln system cools down the carbon with a quench tube, reducing the carbon temperature down to 250°C (480°F), in order to avoid thermal shock as the carbon is dropped into a quench tank for final cooling.
The steam is in turn superheated and it flows into the drum exit end to provide a very efficient supply of the process steam which both aids the regeneration and keeps the pressure controlled, to inhibit oxygen ingress. The steam flow can be adjusted.
Nutec Bickley rotary kilns for carbon regeneration are furnished with a complete control system which will permit kiln operators to regulate all of the kiln parameters, such as carbon feed rate, process temperatures, steam flows, kiln pressure etc.
An afterburner system can be incorporated to comply with environmental requirements.

Rotary kilns benefiting from the best technology

With our SCADA systems, the rotary kilns operators are able to have complete control of their firing process, enhancing efficiency and productivity. Our latest Industry 4.0 developments integrate the latest technology for shuttle kilns to not only monitor the process, but also to keep the kiln operating at peak performance.

All the data generated during the firing process is stored in our SCADA system, which is then used to generate reports, graphs and intelligence data, to help customers in their decision making process.

Rotary kiln function

A rotary kiln is a type of continuous industrial kiln which functions for processing bulk materials like powders or sands. Rotary kilns offer a high heat transfer rate which translates to high efficiency and high production rates.

Benefits of our carbon regeneration kilns

Products processed in rotary kilns benefit from the high heat transfer rate inside the drum or tube where the product passes through. High heat transfer rates in rotary kilns can be beneficial for fast production cycles.
